Contributing to the MODELWARE Results

External contributors are welcome to extend and improve all the material provided by MODELWARE, following an open and transparent process. This process relies on complementary Eclipse projects where MODELWARE partners have already made their results available. It is therefore compatible with Eclipse regulations and by-laws.

Involvement in the development of MODELWARE results can be realised by providing feedback on existing material, sending bug reports and providing new material. The latter includes:

  • Contributing to new transformations, meta-models and research prototypes via the Eclipse GMT project.

  • Contributing to new process elements via the Eclipse EPF project and more particularly to the OPenUP/MDD component of EPF.

  • Contributing to the MODELWARE infrastructure (ModelBus, Orchestration Tool, and MDA Tool Component) and/or contributing to new services and tool adapters via the Eclipse MDDi project. It is a goal of MODELWARE to interconnect a great variety of modelling tools, whether they are Open Source Software or COTS. Adapters available in open source under the Eclipse Public License can directly contribute code for the MDDi project. Additionally, proprietary adapters can be referenced on the MDDi web site (with their download location) in order to get recognition from the community.

  • Contributing to new training materials and courseware via the Eclipse ECESIS project.

Proposals for contributions can be sent via the project newsgroups or mailing lists. MODELWARE is involved also in other Open Source projects such as the OSLO OCL tool where contributors are still warmly welcome.
